Reorganisation 2008

What is happening to the re-organisation of schools in Great Yarmouth?

On Monday 23rd and Wednesday 25th April 2007 meetings were held at Cliff Park High and Gt Yarmoutn High to give teachers information on the re-organisation due in September 2008. The first meeting attracted about 200 staff and the second about 60.

At those meetings staff were told of the agreed Staffing Adjustment Code of Practice. This is currently being updated in line with recent legislation. Copies will be made available to all schools which are part of the re-organisation.

All governing bodies will be asked to adopt this policy - to ensure that teachers in all schools would be treated equally.

Alison Cunningham, Human Resources (HR / Personnel)outlined the expected timeline for the re-organisation. Representatives of NUT, NASUWT, ATL and Unison also made contributions.

A newsletter has been produced and sent to schools. Further editions will be sent electronically.

Ask your headteacher to make copies available for all staff to read and discuss.

In late Autumn 2007, HR will be writing to all staff who might be affected, setting out the options available. When you receive your letter do ask for information on any of the options which suit you. Asking for information will not affect how you will be treated should your school be unable to find voluntary solutions.

If you have any questions for HR do contact them.

If you would like me to visit your school to try to assist NUT members ring me on 01362 637292 or e-mail me on norfolknut@aol.com

Every effort will be made to avoid redundancies and re-deployment, to a suitable alternative post, will be the preferred option for those who do not secure a post in their current or successor school.

So remember

* Read the Newsletters

* Contact HR if you have questions for them

* Contact me if you would like a meeting in school
